Midnight Thunder Ends Era at Bristol

On the 9th, the Midnight Thunder Cup Series ended the weekends activities at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The first two weeks had been swept by -ECT-BSchilling, and everyone wondered will Vegas be any different.
Final Practice seemed to be a continuation as Schilling has fast lap. Qualifying and Happy Hour the same! The checkered flew and the field flew into turn 1, seven laps later the first of 7 yellows flew. The race got back under green, and 20 laps later the yellow and and accident by the 3, seen his day behind the wall, his day over. 15 laps later, another, this one sweeping up innocent bystander OGR Devon. A couple more yellows before midway, then the field calmed down, running 50 laps before the next caution. At lap 121, after leading 102 laps, -ECT-BSchilling took his third win in a row, running the season to date. The remainder of the Top 5 were: OGR Ellie, RHoward, -ECT-CBibbus, and -ECT-R LaDuke.
The buzz around the garage the following week at Bristol was could -ECT-BSchilling tie his ECT record and win his fourth consecutive race in a row. -ECT-R LaDuke took the pole with a fast-lap of 128.468 mph, bringing hope that the series would see a new winner. Schilling would lead 46 laps of the 162 he ran before his Chevy bottomed out, wrecking him out with 63 laps remaining, leaving him in 12th place. The race turned into a caution fest as drivers became impatient, bringing out the yellow a whopping 20 times, putting the field behing the pace car for 100 laps. The race was stop and go, with 18 laps the longest green flag segment. When the race ended, bringing to end the use of the BR Cup cars in Midnight Thunder Cup Series racing, OGR Devon crossed the checkers first. Eric Fox led the most laps (84) before old tires did him in. The rest of the Top 5 were: -ECT-Jim, OGR Ellie, -ECT-R LaDuke, and J Crivello.
Next week the Midnight Thunder Series will make their way to the Left Coast and the debut of the Gen-6 cars at Auto Club Speedway.
