The past two weeks have been the domain of “Short Track Ringers” in the Monday Night Aero Thunder Series. Though only one track would be considered a short track, the other was a wide-open 2-mile flat, D-shaped oval.
Two weeks ago, Matt Corliss took the win as the Warriors took to Bristol Motor Speedway. Pole winner, and the driver who led a majority of the 175 laps, -ECT-TJ finished a disappointing 12th place. Corliss did lead the second most laps at 50. The remainder of the Top 5 were: -ECT-ToddTaylor, Ken Hayes, -ECT-W Quack, and -ECT-Mike Scott.
Last week, the Warriors crossed to the left coast and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. -ECT-TJ rebounded from last weeks uncharacteristic finish outside the Top 10 by winning the pole with a lap of 173.553 mph, then backing it up with a runner-up finish in the 88 lap event. In a race that seen 10 cautions, and ran over a third of its laps under caution, over 20% of the drivers retired before the checkers. At lap 88, it was short-track ringer -ECT-ToddTaylor crossing the line first, and leading the most laps, taking home maximum points. The remainder of the Top 5 were: -ECT-Mike Scott, Ken Hayes, and -ECT-W Quack.
The next race for the Warriors is at Martinsville SBP, followed by a week off for the Easter Break.
