It got off to a slow start last night as the Midnight Thunder Cup Series travelled to the desert for 141 laps at Phoenix International. -ECT-CBibbus was the class of the field, posting the fastest time in final practice, taking the pole with a lap of 128.471, then backed it up with fastest lap in Happy Hour.
After 9 cautions in the frist 47 laps, the field calmed down and ran 90 laps caution free. At lap 141, it was -ECT-BSchilling lapping the field for his second win in as many races. Schilling led 71 laps, with second place finisher, -ECT-CBibbus leading a lionshare of the remaining laps. The rest of the Top 5 were: Eric Fox, ECT-JT Mayhew, and Paul McCollom.
Next week the series will caravan across the desert to Las Vegas.
The Midnight Thunder Cup Series has already announced that the series would move over to the Gen-6 mod at California on March 23rd. Series Director, Robby Neises said the series would wait till then to give the painters and builders time to get caught up.
