Windrow Wins at New Smyrna

As the sun set at the beach, the lights came up at New Symrna Speedway. The QQQQ Racing NW Series hit the track for it’s final Florida outing. TJ hagler would role off from the pole after a scorching lap in qualifying. He would lead until the first caution. The tracks aging surface puts a premium on tires so all the drivers would take advantage of the opportunity to get fresh rubber. With only four cautions on the night, managing tire wear was more important than flat out speed. Vermont’s Jim Windrow would get to the lead and hold it for a race leading 79 laps. Following a late race caution, Windrow would take only two tires in an effort to stay out front and never looked back. Massachusets’ Danny “Serious” Savary made a late race charge on four fresh tires but Windrow’s lead was too much to overcome leaving him to finish in second with Hagler rounding out the top three. With his third victory of the season, Windrow sits atop the standings. Perenial front runners Savary and Cori Bibbus continue to struggle with early bad luck which they will have to overcome to unseat the tree-hugger. As the series travels to Alabama for the next three races, everyone is looking forward to more great racing. See you next week in Montgomery.
