June 7th. On a warm Thursday evening, Accord Speedway came alive as the DIRTcar Season opener was on slate for some wild dirt track racing. The fans got what they paid for. Race #1 was the 55’s, as Michigan’s own Phil Loedeman drew the top spot for the start. It proved to be the spot to be as he led every lap to grab the 1st checkered flag of the season. Next up was the return of the 358 modifieds. The long haul from Florida proved to pay off as Bruce Phalin grabbed the pole for the 40 lap event. Phalin would stand some challenges from defending Champion Jim Windrow from Vermont, as he went on to grab his 1st checkered of the night. Finally race #3 of the night was the Outlaw Late Lodels. Phalin would again draw the pole for this event, and have a strong run. After a few pile ups to bring out a few yellows, OGR’s Brian Schilling A.K.A Outlaw, would lead the last 15 laps to win his 1st DIRTcar race at ECT. Well opening night proved to be very competitive with 3 different winners in as many races, look for next week as they pack up the haulers again and head to Brewerton Speedway.
