Midnight Thunder Gets 2014 Speedweeks Started at Daytona

After 6 weeks of testing, ECT’s Midnight Thunder kicked off 2014 Speedweeks by running the Innaugural ECT Duels, and the second running of the ECT Unlimited.
In the qualifying race for the pole, -ECT-REDCHEVY put up the fast lap, followed by -ECT-BSchilling, setting the front row of the the ECT Midnight Thunder 225, next Saturday night at Midnight on WRN TV. In the Duel race, the results were flip-flopped, with Schilling beating Chevy to the checkers by .10 of a second. JT Mayhew, Josh Elicker, and ECT – DaBandit rounded out the Top 5. The Top 10 starting spots for the ECT Midnight Thunder 225 were set during the race.
After the Duel, ECT drivers who qualified by way of a Pole or Championship, hopped into a fresh car and qualified for the ECT Unlimited. Those who wanted, and hadnt qualified, lotto started the race. After 50 laps, it was ECT-J Crivello taking the win in a race that only saw one caution, and that was when ECT – DaBandit blew a motor. Crivello bested -ECT-REDCHEVY by .06 of a second. ECT-JT Mayhew, -ECT-BSchilling, and Tony Brent rounded out the Top 5. Brent was the highest finishing lotto starter, DaBandit the worse finisher of the qualifiers.
This Saturday, the field is wide open, and everyone is invited to race, or watch the ECT Midnight Thunder 225 on WRN TV. Qualifying is at 11:45pm eastern, Green flag drops at 12:05 am.

Frank Divvens Covers the Field

019winrside1221-win480Dateline: Riverside, CA

A small group of intrepid ECT drivers left the snow and ice for the sun of Southern California. They were greeted by a track without pavement. No one told the drivers that the pavement had been covered at Riverside International. No matter as the group came prepared for the last Midnight Thunder Winter Rally Series race of 2013.
Frank Divvens took the pole, with ECT-JT Mayhew sitting on the outside pole. The green flag dropped on the 25-lap sprint on the 2.69 mile roadcourse and the field darted into the esses. The field pretty much fell in line how they qualified by the top of the hill. The order was jumbled when the 54, driven by ECT – DaBandit spun coming out of the last turn and hit the pit wall. The field remained stagnant other than Bandit, who spent a lot of the race getting out of the sticky grass. A retirement by the 35 of Tony Brent afforded DaBandit a 4th place finish, 3 laps down. But it was Divvens who covered the field, taking the checkers over 56 seconds ahead of Mayhew, and a lap ahead of third-place finisher Jim Black.
Series Admin Robby Neises wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
