The NW Series traveled to the beautiful Ohio Valley for Race 11. As the lights came up at Sandusky Speedway for practice, part time driver Robert Baucom, showed that his skills were not rusty as he lead every session including qualifing. From his position on the pole, he quickly pulled out a comfortable lead leaving the rest of the field to fight for second. Ellie Jamrich and Bruce Phalin spent the first half of the race battling for the second position. Jamrich’s smooth style kept him in front until the handling on his car went away bringing out the yellow flag. Baucom would give up the lead for the only time of the race to pit for tires under caution but when all the pitstops were over he was back up front. When a late race caution came out, Robert would get caught out with the entire field slipping in for fresh tires. Phalin came out behind him and fought hard but just didn’t have the skill to get by as Baucom ran to the checkers out front. Next week the series heads to Indiana.
